What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a way of exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and how you relate to others and the world.
It’s a space to take at look at what makes you, you.
Together with your therapist you’ll explore where you feel fulfilled and energised in your life, and where you might be struggling or wanting a change. It’s a supportive environment, validating your unique experience of being alive. At the same time, it might challenge you to look at fixed thought patterns and behaviours that are no longer serving you. It’s an opportunity for growth, discovery, and ultimately self-acceptance.
Sessions are 50 minutes long, and can be long-term and open-ended, or short term, focussed on specific goals or changes.
Psychotherapy and counselling are used interchangeably in the UK and both offer similar routes to supporting you. Psychotherapists require a post-graduate degree, and often involve a psychiatric placement.
Life can be hard, and you don’t have to do any of this alone. Psychotherapy can be a helping hand when you need it.
